Setting up Thunder­bird and Apple Mail for Horde

Thunder­bird

      1. After you have instal­led Thunder­bird you have to click on E-mail on the start page under Start setup.
      2. Enter your name, e-mail address and the corre­spon­ding password and then click on Set up manual­ly.
      3. Select the follo­wing and then press Done:

    To change your settings just click on your E-Mail Adress on the left and then on Account­set­tings on the top right.

    There you can change, the name of the your E-Mail tab or your standard identi­ty which is what’s being display­ed when someone recei­ves your Mail.

    As well as many other diffe­rent settings.

    If you integra­te more than one E-Mail service you should speci­fy the smtp-server (the one of which you mails get send). To do that you click on the tab <uni-Login>@studserv.uni-leipzig.de and scroll down to outgo­ing mail server (SMTP) and select the one that corre­sponds to your E-Mail client.
    If you don’t do that it might happen for examp­le, that you intend to send an E-Mail from your Uni-Mail but it get’s send through your G-Mail address instead.

    Apple Mail

    First of all, open the Apple Mail App. Make sure it is in the foreground so you can see the dropdown element Mail.

    There you click on add an account and select other Mail-Account.

    Now you’ll need to fill in your name and surna­me, E-Mail address and password.

    Next there will be a messa­ge of the likes of: “accountname/password could not be verified”.

    In the new window that should have popped up, you’ll need to change the automa­tic set userna­me to your Uni-login(<uni-login>@studserv.uni-leipzig.de). Enter your password, set the account­ty­pe to IMAP and set both servers for incoming and outgo­ing mails to studserv.uni-leipzig.de .

    Next, your creden­ti­als will be verified and you’ll be asked which app you’d like to use. Now every­thing should be set up.
