Setting up Thunder­bird and Apple Mail for Horde

 

Thunder­bird

      1. After you have installed Thunder­bird you have to click on E-mail on the start page under Start setup.
      2. Enter your name, e-mail address and the corres­pond­ing password and then click on Set up manually.
      3. Select the follow­ing and then press Done:

    To change your settings just click on your E-Mail Adress on the left and then on Account­set­tings on the top right.

    There you can change, the name of the your E-Mail tab or your stand­ard identity which is what’s being displayed when someone receives your Mail.

    As well as many other differ­ent settings.

    If you integ­rate more than one E-Mail service you should specify the smtp-server (the one of which you mails get send). To do that you click on the tab <uni-Login>@studserv.uni-leipzig.de and scroll down to outgo­ing mail server (SMTP) and select the one that corres­ponds to your E-Mail client.
    If you don’t do that it might happen for example, that you intend to send an E-Mail from your Uni-Mail but it get’s send through your G-Mail address instead.

    Apple Mail

    First of all, open the Apple Mail App. Make sure it is in the foreground so you can see the dropdown element Mail.

    There you click on add an account and select other Mail-Account.

    Now you’ll need to fill in your name and surname, E-Mail address and password.

    Next there will be a message of the likes of: “accountname/password could not be verified”.

    In the new window that should have popped up, you’ll need to change the automat­ic set username to your Uni-login(<uni-login>@studserv.uni-leipzig.de). Enter your password, set the account­type to IMAP and set both servers for incom­ing and outgo­ing mails to studserv.uni-leipzig.de .

    Next, your creden­tials will be verified and you’ll be asked which app you’d like to use. Now everything should be set up.
